ADA accommodations 

We’re committed to serving the needs of all guests at the Carolina Theatre. Here’s an overview of our current accommodations: 

  • Accessible drop-off for guests with limited mobility is available at Foundation For The Carolinas' loading zone, 220 N. Tryon St. 
  • Ramps and curb cut-outs for wheelchair access to the property from city sidewalks 
  • Passenger elevator and wheelchair lift to accommodate guest seating on our Grand Tier and Mezzanine levels 
  • Wheelchair lift connecting the Salvin Stage, audience chamber and backstage amenities. 
  • Accessible restroom facilities

Aisles 

For the safety of you and other guests, aisles must be kept clear at all times. Please follow the instructions of the Guest Services representatives assigned to your section and refrain from standing in the aisles. 

Animals / Pets 

Animals or pets of any kind are prohibited with the exception of service animals that provide services to guests with disabilities. Sorry, this means emotional support animals aren't allowed either (no matter how cute they are).

Assistive-listening devices 

We're happy to provide the following assistive-listening devices to help patrons who have hearing impairments: 
 
* ALS belt pack receivers and headphones 
* Loop lanyards for pairing with Cochlear implants and hearing aids 
* Closed caption services for most performances 

Should you need any of these items, please let Guest Services know and our team will assist you.

Baby-changing stations 

Baby-changing stations are located in the men’s, women’s and gender-neutral/family restrooms.

Bag policy 

For everyone’s safety, we ask all guests to enter without a bag of any kind. (Sorry, Mary Poppins!) If personal items are specifically needed, guests should bring as few items as possible. Below are specific guidelines for bags: 

  • Clutch-size bags (4.5” x 6.5”) are permitted. 
  • Diaper bags, regardless of size, accompanying a child are permitted and subject to inspection. 
  • Medical bags, or any bags carrying medical items no larger than 12” x 12” x 6” are permitted and subject to inspection. 
  • All other bags are prohibited.

The Box Office will be open two hours before every event’s posted door time. 

Cameras / Photography 

Commercial or flash photography of any kind is prohibited on a general basis unless otherwise approved in advance by the performance. Camcorders and any other audio/visual equipment are also prohibited unless authorized by the performance. The following equipment is strictly prohibited: 

  • Telephoto or zoom lenses 
  • Interchangeable lenses 
  • Monopods 
  • Tripods 
  • Flash equipment

Cashless venue 

The Carolina Theatre's a cashless venue. We accept all major credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. 

Chairs 

Please don't stand on our chairs. Your parents taught you better. Plus, this is dangerous. 

Child admission policy 

All guests older than 2 are required to have a ticket. Furthermore, children must be able to sit in their own seats without disturbing other guests unless the performance offers crowd engagement. 

Children younger than 10 must be supervised at all times. A parent or chaperone must be in attendance with children younger than 16. 

Please check each event page on our website for age requirements and recommendations for each performance. These guidelines will help you determine the appropriateness of each show for your children. 

Code of conduct 

All guests must adhere to applicable federal, state and local laws in addition to all policies and rules outlined by the Carolina Theatre. Below are prohibited actions: 

  • Disorderly conduct 
  • Smoking (including e-cigarettes) inside the theatre, lobby or restrooms 
  • Use of mobile devices during the performance 
  • Recording or photographing of the performance 
  • Guns, knives or any weapon 
  • Outside food and beverages 
  • Large bags 
  • Use of illegal drugs 

Concessions 

Everyone loves snacks, right? We offer a wide variety of food and beverage options for our guests’ enjoyment. We offer Coca-Cola products, domestic and foreign beer, liquor and specialty cocktails, popcorn and snacks. 

Food and drink are allowed in the theatre. Cup holders are provided at each seat. VIP seating areas (box seats, love seats and banquettes) all have tables for your convenience.

E-Cigarettes / Smoking 

E-cigarettes and smoking are not permitted inside the Carolina Theatre.

Emergency planning 

We make it easy for someone to reach you in case of an emergency. Simply leave your section, row and seat number with a responsible party. Upon your arrival, register your seat location with Guest Services. Instruct parties who may need to reach you to call 704-828-6220. Please note a public address paging service is not available for most events, so it’s crucial anyone trying to reach you knows your exact seat location. 

Entry inspections 

All guests and items are subject to a voluntary inspection upon entering the Carolina Theatre. This voluntary inspection may involve metal detectors and surveillance pictures that may be stored for up to seven days. 
 
By scanning your admission ticket, you acknowledge this inspection and agree to allow us to maintain your photo for seven days. 

First aid 

Your safety is our No. 1 priority. Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are located on each level of the theatre building (please look for posted signage). First aid kits are also available at Guest Services and at each concession stand for your convenience. 

Group sales discounts 

Select events at the Carolina Theatre may offer substantial savings for groups of 10 or more. Please contact a Guest Services representative at 704-828-6220 for more information.

Our Guest Service associates will be available in-person beginning two hours before a show to assist you.

For hotel, restaurant and other partners, please visit our Hospitality partners page. Many partners offer special discounts, rates and menus for our programs. Carolina Theatre patrons and members also receive special discounts from our partners. 

Inclement weather 

Performances at the Carolina Theatre will take place as scheduled unless otherwise announced. If weather conditions prevent you from attending your scheduled performance, our staff will try our best to assist you. However, please note that availability for exchanges will vary depending on the show.

Lost and found 

Losing things is never fun. If we find any items during an event, we hold on to them at Guest Services for 30 days unless claimed. Please email info@thecarolina.com to check for lost items. 

Parking

We've negotiated a special $10 rate for patrons with the Fifth-Third Center Garage (109 W. Sixth St.). You can purchase parking validations in advance with your tickets or in person from our Guest Services team or at our concession stands.

  • Cameras (camera policies vary on an event-by-event basis) 
  • Non-medical canes, chains or sticks of any length 
  • Cans, glass or metal containers 
  • Coolers 
  • Diaper bags (unless accompanied by a baby) 
  • Drones 
  • Dry ice 
  • Fireworks, sparklers, pyrotechnics or any explosive 
  • Folding chairs 
  • Helium balloons 
  • Illegal drugs 
  • Knives 
  • Laser pointers 
  • Pepper spray or mace 
  • Pets (except service animals for patrons with disabilities) 
  • Promotional items with commercial identification 
  • Tape recorders 
  • Tasers 
  • Large golf or non-telescopic umbrellas 
  • Weapons of any description, including firearms (weapons with a carry permit are also prohibited) 
  • Signs, banners, flags or any other items that would either obstruct the view of a patron or serve as a dangerous projectile or security risk 
  • Other items that might pose a safety risk or diminish the enjoyment of an event by other patrons 
  • Outside food and beverages (except needed for special dietary reasons) 

Re-entry 

Generally, we don't permit re-entry to events. Guests wishing to return any items to their vehicle must do so before passing through entry scanners. Select events may permit re-entry with an alternate method of tracking. 

Recycling 

We proudly participate in the city of Charlotte’s recycling program. Trash and recycling bins are located throughout the facility for easy guest access. Please deposit all plastic, paper products and cans in the designated recycling receptacles. 

We're committed to environmental sustainability and uses multi-use and compostable service wares where possible. 

Rideshares / Taxis 

Rideshare and taxi drivers are encouraged to drop you off in front of our main entrance on North Tryon Street. Sixth Street only has one lane of traffic during construction of the new Main Branch of Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, so please avoid blocking traffic on that thoroughfare. 

Reselling tickets 

The resale of tickets on Carolina Theatre property isn't permitted. The resale of tickets is approved only on verified Ticketmaster outlets. 

Restrooms

The following restroom facilities are available to patrons: 

  • Main Lobby level, which services the Orchestra level
  • Balcony level, which services the Balcony and Mezzanine levels
  • 100 Club level, our lower-level lounge with access to the Orchestra level

Ticket policy 

Event tickets are a revocable license subject to termination with denial of admission at the Carolina Theatre management’s discretion upon refund of the purchase price. License is subject to revocation with denial of admission or removal of the facility, without compensation, should the holder violate management’s rules or regulations. Holder voluntarily assumes all risks and dangers incidental to the event for which the ticket is issued whether occurring prior to, during or after the same, including without limitation, injury from acts of others, etc., and the ticket holder agrees the facility, promoter, organization, agent, artist or participants, the ticketing agent and/or related persons are not responsible or liable for any injury, expense or claim of liability resulting from or related to such causes. Holder grants permission to the facility and organization sponsoring event or his/her designee to utilize holders’ image or likeness in connection with any broadcast or other reproduction of this event.

Please be aware of ticket resellers (i.e. scalper) websites – Ticketmaster.com and TheCarolina.com are the only authentic and official ticketing services of the Carolina Theatre. Purchasers should pay particular attention to the actual URL and website they’re using to purchase event tickets. All other websites could be fraudulent or ticket speculators. 

Tickets purchased from other sources may: 

  • Not be authentic 
  • Be overpriced well above face value 
  • Have an invalid or previously used bar code 
  • Not be eligible for assistance, as Carolina Theatre can only assist the original ticket purchaser 

Carolina Theatre may not be able to validate tickets purchased from third-party vendors. Please purchase tickets directly from the Carolina Theatre and Ticketmaster.com. 

Accessible seating areas are specifically for patrons with disabilities and their companions. 

Event date and time subject to change without notice. 

No refunds, no exchanges, no re-admission or pass-outs allowed. 

Ticket scanning

We scan barcodes on most event tickets. Tickets purchased online and in advance of your event will be available in your Ticketmaster.com account (via the app) and can be added to your digital wallet for tapping/scanning. 

Purchasing from unauthorized websites and third-party sellers/re-sellers may involve counterfeit or previously used tickets, which could result in denial of entry. 

Screenshots and photographs of tickets aren't valid. 

Umbrellas

For most shows, we allow umbrellas and provide various sizes of umbrella bags for guests to store them, which help prevent wet floors that could cause slips and falls. 

Due to space restrictions, please limit yourself to bringing only small sized (telescoping) umbrellas. Large (golf) umbrellas aren't allowed in the theatre. 

Wheelchair service

Carolina Theatre personnel are prepared to offer complimentary wheelchair service to assist guests who need assistance getting to/from their seats. Please see a Guest Service representative at the Box Office to request service. No advance notice is required. 

Will Call

Guest Services (will call) windows are open two hours prior to every ticketed event. Tickets that have been ordered online are available for pick-up at this location with presentation of a government-issued ID and the credit card used to pay for the tickets. Tickets will only be released to the guest whose identification matches the following criteria: the name on the ID, the name on the credit card and the name on the tickets.
